Mig Holder - And sew to recycle CANCELLED

My work spans a very wide spectrum - from exhibited textile art to fashion and home accessories. What links it all is that everything is made from recycled or remnant materials. Sewing thread, and paint for backgrounds and frames, are the only things I allow myself to buy (and people donate me so much fabric that I don't even need to buy it from charity shops!).

Thursday 14 May CANCELLED

Francesca Holmes - Stitch, burn, heat and dissolve

I am a textile artist and tutor specialising in machine embroidery and mixed media.

Saturday 13 June CANCELLED

Kathryn Ashcroft - Mouse in the House

Mouse in the House is the product of a noisy brain and an overactive imagination…. They are collectors of treasure, eaters of cheese, made from fragments of stuff and memories, scraps of fabric, pieces of broken things, lost buttons and forgotten moments…

Thursday 9 July

And sew to supper

Bring some stitching - if you wish, and enjoy an evening talking to like minded people as well as some good food.

Friday 11 October

Pat Ashton-Smith - Teasing Textures

The aim of this workshop is to explore a variety of materials that can be changed by heat to produce interesting textures and to combine them to create exciting tactile surfaces that are just waiting to be stitched into.

You may have a source of inspiration in mind or be happy to wait and see what happens as the materials combine but you can be sure the outcome will be exciting!

Friday 10 January

Clare Bullock - Nuno Felting

Nuno is made by working fabric and wool together using the wet feltmaking technique. In this workshop we will explore a wide range of fabrics including cottons, silks ans synthetics. We will get to explore how these fabrics react together and the textures they produce. By the end of the day you will have a sound knowledge of this technique and several samples to inspire further development.

Friday 13 March

Judith Rowley - Developing a Creative Journey

Judith indicates the stages that one can go through from an initial inspiration to creating a beautiful textile art piece. She will illustrate such a journey by explaining examples of her own creative work. Students will be taken through this metamorphosis and will develop their own work and with Judith’s help will by the end of the day have an understanding of the principles that underpin textile art projects.

Friday 15 May

Francesca Holmes - Serviette Quilting

Transform a serviette into a beautiful piece of textile art or functional item.

Each piece can be machine or hand stitched and embellished with beads.
