Fri September 12th Pauline Verrinder - The diversity of muslin

Swimming in a sea of muslin, which will be distressed, manipulated, layered, stitched and wrapped.

Fri Nov 14th Wendy Dolan - Architectural Textures

Architecture is the inspiration for this workshop - doors, windows, arches, etc. Coloured fabrics will be pieced, layered and stitched to create an abstract textured background. The image will then be stitched using freehand machine embroidery.

Fri Mar 13th Chris Gray - Tribal panel

Chris Gray is a textile artist, author and tutor, living in South Wales. Much of her work is inspired by all things ancient and the textiles and arts of tribal peoples. Having studied religion and history and then European pre-history at the University of Wales, a fascination for ancient societies and cultures has been a constant in her life.

Requirements:

Sewing machine, threads, usual sewing kit plus cherished bits and beads. Iron and ironing board if you have a portable one. Chris will provide materials provided as part of the workshop fee.

Fri Jun 12th Alice Fox - Stitch, fold, rust

Explore stitch and fabric manipulation techniques, working ‘white on white’ as a precursor to rust dyeing with tea.

You will make a piece of unique textile artwork incorporating textural elements, which will be dyed, developing colour and marks in the days following the workshop.

These run from 10 am to 4 pm at Bradmore Methodist Church Hall, Farmer Street, Bradmore, NG11 6PE

Bring your lunch and a mug for your hot drink.
